Nasolabial folds are commonly filled to make them appear more shallow and smooth. As we age, the nasolabial folds get deeper. It is one of the signs that contributes to the aged face. Everyone has nasolabial folds, but in youth, they are shallow and are seen just next to the nose. In ones 20s and 30s usually half a syringe on each side is enough to fill them. In the 40s one usually needs a whole syringe on each side. As one ages more, the best technique to fill that area would be with fat grafting, because of the volume needed. Recovery time is minimal. Sometimes you can notice bumps and hard areas as the filler is settling in. In two weeks everything smoothes out.
